Green Reads - 4th Thursday of the Month, 7.30 pm at The Tiger

Green Reads is a monthly eco-themed book club that meets in The Tiger pub in Bridport on the 4th Thursday, 7.30pm (except in June, when we have a picnic on a nearby hill, weather permitting).

Started by local writer and academic, Dr Kevan Manwaring, who wanted to connect with environmentally-conscious locals to discuss fiction and creative non-fiction with a green theme, it is friendly, free, and open to new members.

"Even if you haven’t read the book of the month, you’re welcome to come along," says Kevan. "as we can summarise the guest book to provide a bit of context; and after the break we discuss any other green reads, views, listens, and events that folk want to recommend - so we act as a bit of a green hub."

Author of Writing Ecofiction and course leader in the MA Creative Writing at Arts University Bournemouth (which has a strong eco focus), Kevan is frequently interviewing authors of ecofiction and new nature writing, and reviewing their work, and so the group benefits from a continually refreshing list. He adds:

"An intelligent cross-section of green citizens attend, and everyone gets a chance to share their views in a good-natured discussion over a drink or two. It's a great evening!"
