After our summer break MMMM! Monday Movie, Meal & Mingling is back this Monday 15 September with the Dorset Premiere of Fires and Fascism plus a Q&A with filmmaker Dr Peter Knapp. Tickets are now live at https://ud.coop/firesfascism
We'll have a delicious (mostly organic) vegan curry from 6ish:

Fires and Fascism (57 mins) 2025
FIRES AND FASCISM is a new 57-min documentary shows the wildfires in Europe are more than just climate change and mismanagement.
It links the increasing wildfires of Europe with past fascism, big business, organised crime, and the rise of the far right. It showcases how communities are engaging in direct action, protest, rewilding, and suppressing the rise of uncontrollable fires and the far right through direct actions.
The experiences and actions of 25 people across Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal feature, ranging between scientists, teachers, artists, gardeners, engineers, winemakers, NGOs, and authors.
Dr Pete Knapp, the filmmaker, has a background in air quality and shifted careers from academia to storytelling. The reason for making the film is to reduce modern day fascism that capitalises on any crisis, which are wildfires in this case. It aims to start the conversation on what we do about the rise of fascism today.
The documentary has taken 15 months to produce. Over £4000 was raised by crowdfunding, which paid for the equipment and filming, and activists providing free accommodation and food during filming helped greatly to reduce the cost.
We'll also have:
Delicious (mostly) organic vegan curries from Fergus Bradbeer aka Vegie Vortex (who also used to do the curries at Beach and Barnicott), plus hot and cold drinks.
Please note:
Our room hire costs £42/ week so if you're able to able to contribute more than the default ticket amount then please do so.
We also need to ensure enough people come along to make it worthwhile for Fergus to keep coming along to cook up the delicious food - so invite a friend!
