🎬 From Page to Screen film festival, 22-26 April

The From Page to Screen film festival is currently on at Bridport Arts Centre! Curated by Chris Chibnall (creator of Broadchurch), the programme features classic comedies, international gems, and gala screenings of 2001 and Casino Royale at the Electric Palace, including a Q&A with composer David Arnold and writers Neal Purvis and Rob Wade.

There's also a series of free talks (for under 25s; £5 for over 25s) at 1pm daily at the Town Hall, aimed at demystifying how films are made and how to work in the industry. Films are mostly just £3 for young people.

🎥 MMMM! is back on Monday 11 May: The Invisible Doctrine

MMMM! Monday Movie, Meal & Mingling returns on Monday 11 May with The Invisible Doctrine (2025, 1hr 15mins, IMDb 7.5/10).

George Monbiot deconstructs the roots, secretive propagation and deep impact of neoliberalism, the "invisible doctrine" that has come to govern and constrain our lives. The film explores how neoliberal policies drive economic inequality and social atomisation, and why they're fundamentally incompatible with the preservation of life on earth. Importantly, it also offers a refreshing counter-narrative, calling for a new "politics of belonging" rooted in community, cooperation and democratic engagement.

As always, there'll be delicious (mostly organic) vegan curries from Fergus Bradbeer of Vegie Vortex, plus hot and cold drinks. Food from around 6pm, shorts from 6:30pm, and the main feature from 7pm.

🍲 Pre-book your food by 3pm Monday 11 May to avoid disappointment!
